ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Freshman Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) set a new school record for the second consecutive race today and led the Daemen College women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College.

Donahue, who won the Highlander Invitational last week with a record-time of 18:37.03, leading to her selection as the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, came in fifth today with a time of 18:29.2, topping her record-setting time in a 5K race by eight seconds.

The race featured 17 teams, including East Coast Conference-affiliates Roberts Wesleyan, Long Island University Post, New York Institute of Technology and Molloy College.  The host Redhawks were atop the team standings at the race's end, accumulating 33 points to best second-place Cornell University by 20.

RWC's Rachel Prutsman (17:46.8) won the 199-participant race and was joined by Gannon University's Veronica Bujdos (17:56.3) as the only runners with a sub-18-minute showing.

Daemen's 192 points put them just eight points behind fifth-place LIU Post.

After Donahue, fellow freshman Hannah Rice (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) came in 20th with a time of 19:10.1.  Sophomore Jordan Weir (Cato, N.Y./Cato-Meridian) earned a 31st-place finish with a season-best time of 19:34.2.

Sophomore Brooke Nolan (Depew, N.Y./Depew) and junior Noelle Thompson (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) rounded out the scorers for Daemen.  Nolan (20:47.2) came in 65th and Thompson (20:54.7) was on her heels, finishing in 71st.

"We had a very good showing against Division II competition," said second-year Daemen head coach Jessica Gorski.  "We are still working to get our fourth and fifth runners closer to the top three.  If we can get that accomplished, we'll have a good chance to finish ahead of LIU Post the next time we see them."

Daemen is idle until the Mercyhurst/Gannon Invitational on Oct. 12.  That will represent their final preparation before LIU Post hosts the East Coast Conference Championships on Oct. 27.
