BOX SCOREPHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Daemen College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 non-conference match to the University of the Sciences, a member of NCAA Division II and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, this afternoon. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 3-7 overall while the Devils improved to 8-1.
The team of juniors
Aman Shamaa (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) and
Tianna Washington (North Chili, N.Y. / Churchville Chili) got the Wildcats on the board with an 8-6 defeat of Sciences' Anna Vo and Allison Korn at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Sarah Crissy (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East)
and sophomore Maria McGrath (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) also overcame Melissa White and Andria Dang in No. 3 doubles 8-6. However,
McGrath was the only Wildcat to break through in singles action, winning her No. 6 singles matchup against the Devils' Sara Skoritowski, 6-2, 6-3.
The Wildcats look to get back on track with three non-conference road matches this weekend. Coach
Stephen Beatty's squad will travel to Houghton College on Friday (Oct. 10) before heading to West Virginia to face Fairmont State (Oct. 11) and West Liberty University (Oct. 12)
