Wildcats Host Firebirds for Senior Day on Saturday

SENIOR SALUTE 
The Daemen women's tennis team hosts the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday for senior day. The team will honor Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) and Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.) before the match for their contributions to the program. The Wildcats currently hold a 3-13 record, including a 0-7 ECC mark after falling to D'Youville in their last match. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats fell 7-0 in an away match against crosstown rival D'Youville on April 4. In doubles, the Saints won two of the three matches. The  Wildcats' No. 3 pair of Lily Goodemote (Sauquoit, N.Y.) and Nadja Emmendorfer (Clarence, N.Y.) won 6-3. The No. 1 pair of Marley Conover (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.) fell 6-3. Daemen's No. 2 team of Armitage and Ashley Bonilla (Flushing, N.Y.) dropped a 6-0 decision. D'Youville then won all six singles matches to take the match victory. At No. 1 singles, Conover fell 6-3, 6-1. Armitage was defeated at No. 2, 6-3, 6-0. Bjerkan fell at No. 3 6-1, 6-1. Bonilla dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at the No. 4 slot. Goodmote lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5, while Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.) fell in a tight decision at No. 6, 6-0, 4-6, 10-12.

ECC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Goodemote was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll on March 24 following her performance against STAC. The sophomore won her match at No. 5 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-1 over Martinez Blucher of the Spartans. 

GETTING ON THE BOARD
Goodemote and Emmendorfer both won their first singles matches of the spring against STAC on March 21. Armitage picked up her first singles win of the spring against West Liberty on Feb. 14. During the fall, several Wildcats earned their first wins of the season against Fredonia on Oct. 5. Goodemote, Armitage, Bonilla, and Mehani all picked up their first singles wins of the season. Emmendorfer earned her second doubles win, while Stephanie Baier (Boise, Idaho) and Bjerkan also earned wins. Goodemote and Mehani notched their first doubles victory of the year.

FALL RECAP
The Wildcats went 3-7 during the fall campaign, including a 0-4 mark in East Coast Conference matches. Daemen earned wins over Nazareth (5-2), Fredonia (7-0), and Oswego State (7-0). Bjerkan and Conover both posted 4-7 singles records during the fall. The doubles team of Conover and Baier led the way with a 4-7 mark. 
 
SCOUTING UDC (7-8, 2-3 ECC)
The Firebirds are 7-8, including a 2-3 ECC mark, and will play D'Youville on Friday before facing the Wildcats. UDC defeated West Chester 5-2 on Tuesday in its non-conference finale. The Firebirds also have wins over Virginia State and Coppin State.
 
SERIES HISTORY
UDC leads the all-time series against the Wildcats, 12-0. The Firebrids won the last meeting this fall, 6-1, in Washington, DC.
