The Daemen College men's tennis team fell in their opening match today at Pennbriar Athletic Club following a 9-0 defeat to Mercyhurst College of NCAA Division II.
"Despite the scores every match was competitive and it was a great start to the season," said head coachÂ
Stephen Beatty. "I was proud of how the team played and fought for every point."
The match was both teams' first match of the spring season and Daemen's first since Oct. 11.
John LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) saved five match points in the second set to force a tiebreak.
The Wildcats will look to break through for the first win of the season when they travel to Cedarville University on Saturday (Feb. 15) for a 1 p.m. match.
