PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Daemen College men's tennis team returned for its seventh away match of the year, but the season-long struggles continued as they suffered a 6-3 rout to NCAA Division II member the University of the Sciences Devils. The loss dropped the Wildcats' record on the season to 3-9 while the Devils improved to 3-1 with the victory.
"We had a very competitive match today with U Sciences. We played better in the doubles today than we did yesterday. But today our singles performance was the best it's been all season," said head coach
Stephen Beatty. "I am confident our performance today will impact the rest of our season."
Sophomore Gregory Lowe (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) picked up a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(5) win over Peter Micu in the No. 2 singles slot while teammates
Zach Kinnaird (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) and
John Wilson (Seneca Falls, N.Y. / Mynderse) also defeated their opponents in No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Wildcats travel to Bloomsburg tomorrow (March 23) for their third match this weekend as they play the University of Bloomsburg Huskies for a 1 p.m. showdown.
