WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat at home today, falling to the Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks a fellow member of the East Coast Conference and NCAA Division II. With the loss, Daemen falls to 5-14 on the season while Roberts improved to 13-5.
Daemen's best chance to snag a point came in #1 singles where freshman
Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) came close but dropped the match 6-4, 6-4.
"This was a much more competitive match than we had in the fall," said head coach
Stephen Beatty. "Hayle played the best match of her collegiate career so far and I am thrilled with the progress she has made this year. I cannot wait to see how much she can improve for next season."
The Wildcats will host Edinboro University at the Park Country Club courts this Thursday (Apr. 10) for a 1 p.m. match. The Fighting Scots are a member of NCAA Division II and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
