BOX SCORE

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team claimed their second win of the season while getting revenge with a hard-fought 5-4 decision over SUNY-Oswego Lakers of NCAA Division III and the Eastern College Athletic Conference at the Park Country Club Courts. The Wildcats lost a 5-4 match to Oswego last season but are now tied 1-1 in the series with the Lakers.

"I'm super proud of winning this match because this proves to the girls that they can win these tight matches," said head coach Stephen Beatty.

Daemen took two out of the three doubles matches and three out of six in singles competition. The pivotal match was at No. 1 doubles with Sarah Crissy (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) and Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian).  The two started down 4-1 and fought back to lead 7-4 then ultimately collected a 9-8 victory against Oswego's Alicia Kreamer and Lauren Stall.

Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and Tianna Washington (North Chili, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) also teamed up to overcome Alli Ullrich and Kelsey Wilson 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.

In addition to doubles play, Scanlan  picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win against Stall in the No. 1 singles slot while Ringler beat her opponent  6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

The Wildcats are back in action on Sept. 19 when they host SUNY-Fredonia for a 4 p.m. match at the Park Country Club courts.
