CASTILE, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's cross country team ran to a 30th-place finish, out of 38 competing teams, with 876 points at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Genseo today at Letchworth State Park.
The host SUNY Geneseo Knights topped the team standings, accumulating just 42 points with all five of its scorers placing in the top 14, including race runner-up Isaac Garcia-Cassani who completed the 8K course in 24:53.1. Â He was edged Benjamin Fazio of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute who won the race with a time of 24:46.6.
Daemen was paced today by senior
Jeremy Rushok (Akron, N.Y./Buffalo State College) who finished 115th out of 534 total competitors. Â Rushok completed the course in 26:51.6 and has now been Daemen's top finisher in eight consecutive races, and nine of the last 10, dating back to the start of last season.
Rushok was pushed for that distinction today however, as he edged teammate
Kevin Roginson (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) Â by just one-tenth of a second. Â Roginson finished in 116th overall with his time of 26:51.7.
Rounding out the scorers for Daemen today was sophomore
David DelValle (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West), freshman
Jake Pronti (Pendleton, N.Y./Starpoint) and freshman
Joseph Tracy (Malone, N.Y./Franklin), all of whom finished between 208th and 219th. Â DelValle led the group with a time of 28:26.0. Â He was followed by Pronti (218th place) whose time of 29:06.3 was fractionally ahead of Tracy whose recorded time was also 29:06.3.
Daemen is back in action at next Saturday's (October 10) Hamilton Invitational in Clinton, N.Y.
