MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Daemen College men's tennis team fell to 5-13 overall this season after dropping today's non-conference match vs. Allegheny College by the final score of 9-0. Allegheny improved to 8-5 with the victory.
The host Gators jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping through doubles play. Daemen's
Adam Kerr (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) and
Mark Veitengruber (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) had the best chance to help Daemen thwart the sweep, but they fell, 8-4, to the Gators' Alexander Hurtuk and Sam Stephenson.
In singles play, it was all Allegheny once again. Stephenson outlasted Kerr, 7-5, 7-5, in the No. 5 slot while Veitengruber put up a valiant effort in the No. 2 post, falling 6-2, 6-4, to Thomas Manning.
Daemen returns to East Coast Conference play this Saturday, April 11 at Roberts Wesleyan College.
