For Communications Men's Tennis Falls In Penultimate Match Of Fall Season FINDLAY, Ohio - Playing in their second-to-last match of the fall season, Daemen College suffered an 8-1 defeat on the road to University of Findlay in non-conference men's tennis action today at the Armstrong Sports Complex. The Wildcats, who were coming off their first dual-match win of the season this past Saturday over Houghton College (7-2), fall to 1-3 on the season.  The home-standing Oilers, an affiliate of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, stay perfect this year at 2-0. UF took a 2-1 lead early on after winning two of the three doubles matches at the outset.  David Gonzalez Villegas (Pereira, Colombia/Liceo Frances de Pereira) and John LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) picked up an 8-5 win in third doubles over Nicholas Kopylec (Guelph, Ont.) and Ivaylo Slavov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) to put Daemen on the board.  The win improved Gonzalez Villegas and LeMar's record to 3-2 when pairing together this season. But, the hosts were not to be denied today as they swept all six singles matchups to secure the victory.  The most competitive match, and the only to go to three sets, came in fourth singles where Mark Antoniuk (Moscow, Russia) took down Daemen sophomore Justin Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. 2015-16 All-GLIAC picks Oriol Ferrer (Barcelona, Spain) and Carlos Blanco (Caracas, Venezuela) set the tone at the top of the Oilers' lineup.  Ferrer, a first-team pick last year, downed Gonzalez Villegas in straight sets (6-2, 6-3), while Blanco, an honorablem-mention selection, won 6-3, 6-2 against Wildcat freshman Fabian Wilde (Crimmitschau, Germany/Julius-Motteler). Daemen concludes the fall portion of their 2016-17 season tomorrow when they face their second GLIAC opponent (Walsh University) in as many days.
