ON THE SIDELINES
Daemen: Dan Dolan enters his eighth season as the head coach at Daemen where he's led the program to an average of nearly 10 wins per season...from 2010 through 2013, Dolan led the Wildcats to four straight double-figure win seasons, winning 62-percent of their contests in that span...last season was the program's most successful since transitioning to NCAA Division II, as Dolan led the Wildcats to a team-record four ECC wins to finish in fifth place in the final league standings, just one spot back of a conference tournament berth...during the Wildcats' transition period, Dolan led the program to three straight appearances in the USCAA national championship game, winning the title in 2012.
   
DAEMEN SCOUTING REPORT (4-8-2, 1-5-1 ECC)
Daemen returns 15 players from last year's team that finished 7-10-1 overall and 4-5-0 in the East Coast Conference…eighth-year head coach Dan Dolan has his team coming off its most successful season since making the transition to NCAA Division II and the East Coast Conference...the returning core is led by junior back Rose Carboni who anchors the Wildcat defense...she was a third-team All-ECC selection last season...also back are six off the team's top seven point-producers from 2015, including junior forward Stephanie Zurales (6 gls, 5 asts, 17 pts) and senior midfielder Alexis Koral (5 gls, 2 asts, 12 pts) who produced double-figure points...Zurales' point total tied her for 11th among all ECC players...Daemen was picked to finish seventh in the ECC preseason poll...Daemen snapped a four-game winless drought (0-3-1) with a 3-1 defeat of Pitt-Johnstown last week...it was the Wildcats' first victory since downing ECC foe St. Thomas Aquinas by the same score back on Sept. 18...freshman Jamie Boyar hit for a pair of goals in the win, becoming the first Daemen freshman to post a multi-goal game since Kim Obermeier in 2012...fellow freshman Lindsay Ciaramella scored her first career goal in the win, snapping a 1-1 tie in the second half...the Wildcats are coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses to NYIT and LIU Post last weekend...Boyar leads the team in goals (5), assists (3), points (13), shots (32) and shots on goal (18)...her goal total is the most for a Daemen freshman since the afore-mentioned Obermeier netted nine in 2012...additional offensive production has come from newcomer Kalyn Compeau (3 gls) and redshirt-sophomore Sarah Britton (2 gls, 1 ast)...in goal, it's been sophomore Jackie Wescott who's gotten the lion's share of work between the pipes with starts in 13 of Daemen's 14 outings...she made 11 saves in the win over UPJ last week, her fifth game this year with double-figure stops...she enters the weekend ranked second in total saves (95) and fifth in save percentage (.826) among all ECC net-minders...with two games remaining, Wescott has an opportunity to become the first Daemen goalie to finish the season with a save percentage of .800 or better since Kathryn Haessner (.832) did so in 2013...senior midfielder Kelly DuVall and sophomore back Alex Valenti join Boyar as the only players to start all 14 contests thus far...Daemen is unbeaten (1-0-1) when DuVall records an assist, and Valenti posted the first assist of her career in the win over UPJ...injuries have taken their toll of late as Zurales and Carboni have each missed time...Zurales has been out since Sept. 14, while Carboni has missed the last five outings.
   
BRIDGEPORT SCOUTING REPORT (10-3-0, 4-0-0 ECC)
Bridgeport is led by head coach Magnus Nilerud who is in his 18th season at the helm...the Sweden native is a four-time ECC Coach of the Year honoree, and was named the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year last season...he owns a career record of 239-101-20, to date...the Purple Knights return 16 players from their 2015 team which went 21-2-1 overall (8-0-1 in league play), captured the ECC regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the national semifinals...among the team's returners are eight players who earned some form of all-conference recognition last season...senior midfielder Nicola Worthington headlines the group after earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in the league last season, and Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors this year...also back is the 2015 ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, sophomore Jennifer Wendelius who led the league in save percentage (.851) and goals against average (0.50) last season...double-figure point-producers Hanne Neby (6 gls, 10 asts, 22 pts) and Flo Gamby (6 gls, 9 asts, 21 pts), both first-team All-ECC selections, and second-team pick Amanda Moura (4 gls, 2 asts, 10 pts) also return...the Purple Knights were picked first in the ECC preseason poll and they opened the season ranked No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division II preseason poll...UB enters this weekend's games ranked No. 15 in the latest NSCAA NCAA Division II poll...after going just 3-3 over their first six outings, the Purple Knights have hit their stride, rattling off seven consecutive victories...most recently, the Purple Knights have outscored their last two opponents by a combined 16-0...the team has not allowed a goal in over 460 minutes, dating back to a 3-1 defeat of Philadelphia U. on Sept. 28...UB's 7-0 shutout of Molloy last weekend marked their 16th straight season with at least 10 wins...it also ran their unbeaten streak in regular season ECC games to 16, posting a 14-0-2 mark in such contests dating back to the middle of the 2014 season...the Purple Knights' last ECC loss came to Dowling (1-0) on Oct. 18, 2014...UB hosts Roberts Wesleyan on Friday before facing Daemen on Sunday...newcomer Idoia Agirre, a transfer from Anderson (S.C.), has made an immediate impact as she leads the league in goals (16) and points (35)...Agirre, who was a first-team All-South Atlantic Conference pick last season, has posted 12 goals over the last five games, including four mult-goal games...she ranks fifth in the country in both goals and points...additional offensive production has come from Division I transfer Shannon Colligan (7 gls, 3 asts, 17 pts) and Neby (2 gls, 8 asts, 12 pts)...Wendelius ranks third in the league in save percentage (.870) and goals against average (0.71)...as a team, UB ranks eighth nationally in scoring offense, producing 3.15 goals per game.
