Dolegowski Named ECC Rookie Of The Week For Second Time

AMHERST, N.Y- Daemen College volleyball player Bailey Dolegowski (Marilla, N.Y./ St. Mary's of Lancaster) has been named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for games played September 26 through October 2.  The announcement was made via the league's weekly report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in Central Islip, N.Y.  It's the second time this season that Dolegowski has earned Rookie of the Week honors, having previously done so for the week of August 29-September 5.  She was also named the ECC Setter of the Week for September 12-19.
 
Dolegowski, a 5-foot-8 freshman setter, helped Daemen split a pair of ECC contests at home last week.  The Wildcats took league favorite and 2015 East Region champion N.Y. Institute of Technology to five sets before falling on Saturday, and rebounded to oust 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifier Long Island University Post in straight sets on Sunday.  The results last week have Dolegowski and the Wildcats sitting at 9-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
 
In the loss to NYIT, Dolegowski posted 48 assists and five digs.  She went on to add 41 helpers and eight digs in the win over LIU Post.  The production over the weekend now gives Dolegowski six matches this season with 40 or more assists.
 
For the season, Dolegowski leads the team with 451 assists, the most for a Daemen freshman since teammate Katie McKrell (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) totaled 612 for the entire 2014 season.  She also ranks fourth in the ECC in total assists and service aces (22), and fifth in assists per set (8.51).

Dolegowski and the Wildcats closeout a three-match home-stand by hosting longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan College on Tuesday evening (7 p.m., October 4) at Lumsden Gymnasium.
