Wildcats Drop Three At Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team suffered defeats in all three matches of its trip to face Thiel College tonight, falling to 13-24 overall in this the program's inaugural season of competition.

Daemen fell 690-649 and 719-597 in the opening two team-style matches, before falling 4-3 in a best-of-seven Baker format series to close today's action.

The host Tomcats, who are also in their first year of existence, improved to 7-24 this season with today's results.  The wins avenged a 3-0 Daemen sweep in their trip to face the Wildcats this past November at Transit Lanes, and the season series is now tied at 4-4.  The teams first met during the Kutztown Fall Baker Invitational in mid-October where they split a pair of matches.

Redshirt-freshmen Kaitlyn O'Hara (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) paced Daemen in tonight's opening match with a team-best scored of 189.  Hayle Scanlan's (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) 174 paced the Wildcats in match No. 2.

In the Baker format series, Daemen fell behind 3-1 but rallied with victories in the fifth and sixth frames to force a seventh.  Thiel came out on top in the decisive frame, 149-134 to seal the match victory.

O'Hara's 15.7 pins-per-frame paced the Wildcats in the Baker format series.  She was backed up by Scanlan and freshman Cassandra Johnson (Buffalo, N.Y./MSTP Seneca) with respective averages of 14.6 and 13.1 pins per frame.

The Wildcats are now idle until partaking in the first-ever East Coast Conference Bowling Championship tournament to be held March 25-27 in Reading, Pa.
