AMHERST, N.Y. - Bobby McColl and
Dan Dolan, respective head coaches of the Daemen College men's and women's soccer programs, announced today, in collaboration with Daemen's Office of Institutional Advancement, the launch of the Give For Goals fundraising campaign for the upcoming 2016 season.
The Give For Goals program aims to engage alumni, fans and supporters by investing in the teams' performance throughout the season. Â The idea is simple and the process is easy. Â Simply pledge your support to either the men's or women's program (or both), by donating a monetary amount of your choosing - $1, $2, $5 or $10 - per goal that is scored during the season. Â You can do so by completing the
Give For Goals Pledge Form online.
"We'd like to thank the Daemen community in advance for their support of this worthwhile initiative," said McColl, who enters his first season at the helm after being
named the fifth head coach in the history of the men's soccer program earlier this spring. Â "It takes a village so-to-speak in order to build a program and with the support of our community, I'm confident that we can build a successful NCAA Division II program, on the pitch, in the classroom and in the community."
Dolan, who enters his eighth season leading the Daemen women's soccer program, echoed McColl's sentiments: "As one of the more senior members of our athletics staff, I've seen the progress that we've made in so many different areas over the last several years. Â We're building something special here at Daemen and the Give For Goals campaign is another avenue for us to engage with our alumni, parents and friends of the program, and to ask them to invest in our success."
By pledging your support, you will receive updates from the Daemen coaching staff throughout the season as they keep you informed on the teams' progress, and most importantly, their respective team goal tallies.
It's important to note that 100-percent of your donation will go directly to helping Daemen's soccer student-athletes. Â Examples of how the money raised will be spent include enhancement of the student-athlete experience, the purchase of wi-fi hotspots to allow student-athletes to complete coursework while traveling for competitions, the purchase of video analysis technology and the possibility of taking a foreign tour in the future.
Pre-season training camp for both the men's and women's teams begins on Monday, August 15. Â The Wildcat men begin their
2016 season with an exhibition friendly versus Division I University at Buffalo on August 26 before hosting Lock Haven University in their regular season opener on September 1. Â The Wildcat women open with four straight road games, including their
2016 season opener against Lake Erie College before returning home to face Mansfield University on September 14 in the team's Amherst debut.
