Men's Tennis Suffers 6-3 Loss At Le Moyne

DEWITT, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's tennis team suffered its second-straight loss by a 6-3 final score, falling on the road tonight to Le Moyne College in a non-conference dual match.

The loss drops Daemen's overall record to 2-9 this season, while Le Moyne, a member of the Northeast-10 Conference, improves to 3-1.

Junior Mark Veitengruber (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) teamed with freshman Fabian Wilde (Crimmitschau, Germany/Julius-Motteler) to put the Wildcats on the board in doubles play tonight.  The Daemen duo won 9-7 in second doubles over LC's Josh Sagaille (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio).  DC's Justin Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) and Andrew LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) came up just short in an 8-6 loss to James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y.) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y.) in the third doubles position, giving the Dolphins a 2-1 lead as the match shifted to singles play.

Wilde and Milner both picked up wins in singles play for Daemen, but three hotly contested matches went the way of the Dolphins as they secured the dual match victory.  Wilde downed Sagaille in the fourth singles position (6-2, 6-1) to earn his third win of the season.  Milner has now won four-straight singles matches and he's tied with senior John LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) for the team lead in singles wins this season with four.  He bested Barton in three sets (5-7, 6-4, 10-3) in the fifth singles position.

Gayvert won 6-4, 6-4 in second singles over Daemen sophomore Ricardo Ruiz Martinez (Valencia, Spain/American International College).  Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire) won 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in third singles over Veitengruber.  And, Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y.)  won 7-6, 6-2 over Adam Kerr (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) to round out the other tight singles matches.

Daemen returns to action with their third dual match in as many days with Edinboro University visiting Miller Tennis Center on Sunday.
