KEENE, N.H. - The Daemen College women's bowling team bowed out of the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament with a pair of defeats today at Yankee Lanes.
Daemen, the No. 8 seed following yesterday's round robin and positional rounds, advanced into the winner's bracket quarterfinals with a 4-0 sweep of Roberts Wesleyan College last night in a best-of-seven Baker series.  But, they couldn't ride that momentum into today's action, falling first to top-seeded Franklin Pierce (4-0) and then to third-seeded Felician University (4-0).  The initial defeat dropped the Wildcats into the loser's bracket, making a potential run to tomorrow's final round difficult, and that's where they could not get past Felician.
The results today drop Daemen's record to 16-25. Â Competing in just its second season of existence, the Daemen women's bowling team exceeded its win total from last year's inaugural campaign when the team achieved a record of 14-31.
Freshman
Rachel Steele (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia), a two-time ECC Rookie of the Week selection this season, paced the Wildcats today with a 16.2 pin-per-frame Baker scoring average throughout today's 24 frames. Â She was backed by red-shirt sophomore
Kaitlyn O'Hara (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) and classmate
Katie Good (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) who posted scoring average of 15.7 and 15.0 pins per frame, respectively. Â
Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) appeared in 11 frames and posted a 15.4 pins per frame average as well.
The ECC Championship Tournament concludes with a final double-elimination round tomorrow.
