Mark Veitengruber picked up his fourth singles win of the season tonight vs. Post Men's Tennis 3/4/2017 11:45:00 PM Mike Miranto, Associate A.D. For Communications Men's Tennis Falls In Non-Conference Action WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's tennis team fell 6-3 to visiting Post University in a non-conference dual match this evening at Miller Tennis Center. The loss drops Daemen to 2-11 on the season. Post, a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, improved to 2-1 with the win which came in their spring season opener. Post went up 2-1 in the match following doubles play, eking out points in the first and second positions. The pair of Nikola Crvelin (Kastel Luksic, Croatia) and Ludvig Henrikson (Taby, Sweden) squeezed past DC's Mark Veitengruber (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) and Fabian Wilde (Crimmitschau, Germany/Julius-Motteler) in the top spot, 9-8. And, Ivan Rajevac (Dubrovnik, Croatia) teamed with Samuel Urban (Kosice, Slovakia) to best DC's David Gonzalez Villegas (Pereira, Colombia/Liceo Frances de Pereira) and Ricardo Ruiz Martinez (Valencia, Spain/American International College), 9-7. Daemen's Justin Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) and Adam Kerr (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) helped Daemen avoid the doubles sweep, winning in the third position 8-3 over Post's Peter Roessel (Vienna, Austria) and Joe Alvord (Southbury, Conn.). It was the second-straight doubles win for Milner and Kerr who picked up a win in the same position last Sunday vs. Edinboro University. In singles play, Urban downed Milner in the fifth position (6-4, 6-1). But, Daemen closed the gap with wins by Veitengruber and Andrew LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda). Playing in the second position for just the second time this season, Veitengruber ousted Rajevac in straight sets (6-2, 6-2). LeMar, a red-shirt sophomore, earned his first singles win of the season by besting Alvord 6-2, 6-3 in the sixth position. But that's as close as the Wildcats would get as the Eagles swept the three remaining singles matches, all in close affairs. Crvelin, a first-team All-CACC pick last season, defeated Gonzalez Villegas 6-4, 7-6 in the first position. The other two matches needed three sets to decide. Henrikson defeated Ruiz Martinez in the third position (6-2, 2-6, 6-4), and Roessel did the same to Wilde in the fourth position (6-2, 0-6, 7-5). Daemen looks to jump back in the win column on Sunday (Mar. 5) when it hosts Millersville University in another non-conference dual match beginning at 10 a.m.Print Friendly Version Players Mentioned David Gonzalez Villegas 5' 6" Sophomore Adam Kerr 5' 11" Senior Andrew LeMar 5' 7" Redshirt Sophomore Justin Milner 5' 11" Sophomore Mark Veitengruber 6' 0" Junior Fabian Wilde 5' 8" Freshman Ricardo Ruiz Martinez 5' 8" Sophomore Players Mentioned David Gonzalez Villegas 5' 6" Sophomore Adam Kerr 5' 11" Senior Andrew LeMar 5' 7" Redshirt Sophomore Justin Milner 5' 11" Sophomore Mark Veitengruber 6' 0" Junior Fabian Wilde 5' 8" Freshman Ricardo Ruiz Martinez 5' 8" Sophomore
