FULL RESULTS

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's cross country team took part in the Canisius Alumni Classic today. The 8,000-meter race took place in Delaware Park and featured some of the region's top teams from across NCAA Division I, II and III.

The Wildcats finished fifth in an eight-team race that featured four NCAA Division I programs, two NCAA Division II programs and two NCAA Division III programs.

Host Canisius College claimed the team championship, as the Griffsa posted a score of 49 and edged cross-town rival University at Buffalo (62). The University of Detroit-Mercy (66), SUNY Geneseo (126) and Daemen (215) rounded out the top five. Ben Kendell of Detroit Mercy finished first among the 104 contestants with a time of 24:40.7.

Mike Swiniarski (Akron, N.Y.) once again paced the Daemen runners. The sophomore has now placed first among Wildcat runners in each of the five races this fall. Swiniarski placed 25th with a time of 26:46.5. That time ranks as his second fastest for an 8K race, just 12 seconds off his personal-best time of 26:34.9 he set three weeks ago at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College.

Junior Josh Bodnar (Fillmore, N.Y.) also posted a top-50 finish for Daemen, as he placed 45th with a time of 27:29.7. Senior Lucas Canales (Ithaca, N.Y.), redshirt sophomore Nate Louk (Jane Lew, W. Va.) and freshman Robert Spierling (Endicott, N.Y.) also competed for the Wildcats. Canalas 70th with a time of 28:41.4, Louk finished 75th with a time of 29:24.7 and Spierling placed 77th with a time of 29:32.4. Louk came just five seconds shy of equalling his career-best time (29:19.1) for an 8K race, while Spierling came just 11 seconds shy of equalling his career-best time for an 8K (29:21.9).

Daemen is idle until Nov. 3 when it takes part in the East Coast Conference Championships. The race will take place in Rochester, N.Y. on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.
