BROCKPORT ALUMNI & MULTI INVITATIONAL - FULL RESULTS

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Freshman sprinter Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded a pair of top-three finishes and established a new team record in the 60 meter dash to pace the Daemen College wommen's track and field team at the Brockport Alumni and Multi Invitational today. The season-opening meet was held at the Special Events Recreation Center on the campus of the College at Brockport.

Boswell made her collegiate debut by posting a time of 8.07 seconds in her 60 meter dash preliminary qualifying heat. That was good enough to put her into the race finals where she finished third with a team record time of 7.96 seconds, edging the prior record (7.99) held by former Wildcat Tiffany Cycon by three one-hundredths of a second. Boswell would go on to place second out of 20 competitors in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.15 seconds, less than a second off Cycon's record pace (26.21) in that event.

The Wildcats also got top-five finishes from a sextet of runners. Senior Sam Carro (Canandaigua, N.Y.) paced second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.77 seconds, three-tenths of a second off her own team record pace. Junior Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y.) placed third in the 400 meter dash (1:03.49), and freshman Amanda Bushway (East Aurora, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 800 meter run (2:38.55). The one mile run was Daemen's deepest event of the day as sophomore Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.), redshirt freshman Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) and sophomore Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.) placed second, fourth and fifth respectively. Warner's time of 5:41.41 paced the group, while Nolet finished in 5:58.47 and Mucha came across at 6:00.62.

Also on the track, the Wildcats' 4x400 meter relay team of Warner, Bushway, Kress and Nolet placed second with a time of 4:21.82.

In field events, sophomore Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) picked up where she left off last season when she set new team records for the high jump, long jump and triple jump. She eclipsed her own high jump benchmark today, clearing 1.50 meters while placing eighth. She also added a 10th place finish in the triple jump (10.00 meters) and a 21st place finish in the long jump (4.62 meters).

Kress was also in action in the pole vault competition today. She placed 16th while teammate and team record holder Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.) placed 15th as both cleared 3.05 meters.

Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.) was the lone thrower in action for Daemen today. She placed 10th in the 20 pound weight throw (11.37 meters) and 17th in the shot put (8.84 meters).

Today's meet marked the earliest that Daemen has ever opened a season. The 2018-19 campaign marks the seventh indoor season in team history.

Daemen will return to action next Friday, Dec. 7 at the Houghton December Classic.
