Daemen returns to Karrer Field for their annual Thruway Rivalry matchup with Roberts Wesleyan this weekend. The Wildcats are looking to jump back into the win column after having their modest two-game winning streak snapped at Lock Haven earlier this week. They'll also be looking for their second straight win against the Redhawks after winning 2-1 in overtime last year on Sander Johannessen's "golden goal".

BACK IN THE SADDLE
Head coach Bobby McColl returns for his third season on the Daemen sidelines in 2018, and his seventh overall as a collegiate head coach. McColl heads into the 2018 season with a career coaching record of 54-52-8 with previous stops as the head men's coach at Greenville College (2012) and the head women's coach at Roberts Wesleyan College (2013-15). In 2017, he led Daemen to records of 7-11 (overall) and 3-6 (ECC). The team's overall win total matched the program record for wins in a season.

ECC PRESEASON POLL
Following a vote of the league's head coaches, Daemen has been picked to finish 9th in the East Coast Conference this season. The Wildcats went 7-11 overall and 3-6 in league play last season. The University of the District of Columbia was picked to finish first edging out last year's champions LIU Post by five votes.

SUPER SOPHS
The Wildcats 14 returning sophomores have all be contributing to the team in some form or fashion.  The headlined group of forward/defender Noah Keem, midfielders Anthony Cupello and Niklas Ringdahl Bohlin and forward Finn Krueger have all served as some of the players that make the team go. The four are all tied on the team with two goals apiece. All four players have contributed in their very own with Keem scoring two goals to beat Molloy or Ringdahl Bohlin scoring two goals to beat Gannon. Cupello scored the only goal in the win at Malone early in the season. These super sophs will continue to propel the team throughout the season.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Freshman goalkeeper has assumed the role as the starter this season. Schmidt has started all six games for the Wildcats and played all but 18 minutes. Schmidt has posted one shutout this season and faced 66 shots with and ranks third in the ECC with 24 saves. He has given up 12 goals on the season,.

THERE'S A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
Daemen's 2-1 win over Molloy on Sept. 15 has the Wildcats at 1-0 in East Coast Conference play for the first time since joining the league back in 2013.

WIN STREAK SNAPPED AT LOCK HAVEN
Coming off its first ECC win of the season against Molloy, Daemen traveled to Lock Haven for its sixth game of the season.  After scoring the first goal, the Wildcats gave up three goals in the second to lose 3-1 and move to 3-3 on the season.

ROBERTS WESLEYAN SCOUTING REPORT
Roberts Wesleyan has started off the season with a 2-2-3 record overall and 0-0-1 in the conference. The Redhawks are coached Scott Reber who has compiled a 20-31-6 record during his four-year tenure. Roberts Wesleyan lost its two leading goal scorers from the 2017 season in Sam Moody (5) and Marko Matrevski (4). However, Spencer Terrell, who was third in goals and tied for first in points with Moody (11) in 2017, does return in the midfield. Spencer is currently leading the Redhawks and ranks third in the ECC in goals (5), surpassing his total from last season (3). Returning senior midfielder Daniel Maxwell ranks third in the ECC in assists (3) on the season. The Redhawks have also been getting production from two freshman in midfielder Dylan Ruiz and forward Alex Perez Vega, who both sit behind Spencer in goals and points. Senior goalkeeper Ben Hastings is another returner for the Redhawks as he was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week this past week and ranks third in the ECC in save percentage (.789). Roberts Wesleyan was picked to finish tenth in the ECC Preseason Poll for 2018.

JOHANNESSEN DELIVERS

It was an opportune time for Johannessen to score the first goal of his career. The win snapped Daemen's 27-game winless drought in ECC play (0-26-1) that dated back to the 2014 season. Including their win that night, Daemen is 4-3 over their last seven league games.
