RIT INVITATIONAL - FULL RESULTS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team achieved nine top-three finishes today at the Rochester Institute of Technology Invitational held today at Gordon Field House. It marked the Wildcats' first meet of 2019, resuming their season after a five-week hiatus.
Freshman sprinter Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) returned home today and registered top-two finishes in the 60 meter dash and the 1,600 meter relay. After finishing third in the preliminary heat of the 60 meter dash, Boswell was able to shave time off her first run to finish second with a time of 8.02 seconds. The 1,600 meter relay team of Boswell, Amanda Bushway (East Aurora, N.Y.), Ailish McDevitt (Jamesville, N.Y.) and Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) managed to place first with a time of 4:29:03.
Bushway and Warner added individual first-place finishes in their respective races. Bushway placed first in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:30:75, and Warner followed up with another top showing in the 800 meter dash at 2:28:18.
Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) competed in the 3,000 meter run, and placed third with a time of 11:09:59. Mackenzie Tubbs (Elmira, N.Y.) also competed at that distance, finishing with a time of 13:21:49.
The women were also able to dominate the field events behind jumper Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) and pole vaulter Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.).
Meyer competed in the high jump, triple jump and long jump, earning top-three finishes in each event. In the high jump, Meyer finished second with a jump of 1.46 meters. She followed up in the triple jump with a 10.55-meter jump which was good for third place. Meyer then capped off her day by shattering her own long jump record of 4.81 meters with a jump of 4.93 meters. Her previous record was set last season at Brockport. She finished first in long jump today.
Taylor Haude, also returning home, finished the day off in the pole vault finishing second to cap off the Wildcats ninth top-three finish of the day. Haude achieved a vault of 2.95 meters for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats next meet will be held at Houghton College for the Highlander Invitational on Friday, January 18.
