HIGHLIGHTS
- The host Penmen prevailed in all three doubles matches to earn the "doubles point". The outcome of doubles matches will award a single point to the team winning at least two of the three matchups, as opposed to awarding points for each individual doubles victory.
- No. 1 doubles was a very competitive affair. SNHU's tandem of freshman Magdalena Hubickova and sophomore Alexxa Etienne battled to a 7-6 win over DC's tandem of junior Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) and freshman Lena Gruber (Munich, Germany). Hubickova and Etienne—who lost in the semifinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championship earlier this year—improved to 11-1 on the year. Stasiuk and Gruber dropped to 3-6 in doubles play this year.
- SNHU competed the sweep of doubles play following a pair of 6-0 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
- Gruber turned in a strong performance at No. 1 singles, but fell to fellow rookie Selin Seyfettinoglu by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
- Stasiuk suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Etienne at No. 2 singles.
- Daemen earned its two points at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, as freshmen Erica Jasinski (Fairview, Pa.) and Mackenzie Schayes (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) picked up their first collegiate singles wins. Jasinski posted a 6-4, 7-5 win over fellow freshman Mina Houge at No. 3 singles, while Schayes defeated sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
