Women's Soccer Places Four On All-Conference Teams

Quartet Has Led Wildcats To Most Wins Since 2011

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's soccer team saw four of its players recognized as the East Coast Conference unveiled its all-conference teams for the 2019 season today. Senior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.), senior midfielder Lindsay Ciaramella (St. George, Ont.), junior defender Sam D'Agostino (Mississauga, Ont.) and sophomore midfielder Grace Stranahan (Grand Island, N.Y.) represented the Wildcats, and the four selections marks a team-high since Daemen joined the ECC in 2013.

Boyar headlines the group after earning the third all-conference selection of her career, and her second consecutive selection to the All-ECC First Team. After scoring a program-record 20 goals as a junior, Boyar found the back of the net 18 times this fall while totaling 37 points. Her scoring prowess once again placed her among the conference and national goal-scoring leaders. Boyar ranked second in the ECC and eighth nationally in goals upon the completion of the regular season. Her goals were timely as well, accounting for seven game-winning tallies this season which ranks first in the ECC and fifth nationally.

She started the season on a hot streak, netting 10 goals during a season-opening five-game winning streak. She finished with five multi-goal games this season, and led Daemen to a 9-2-1 record in games that she scored at least once. Boyar notched two goals in Daemen's regular-season finale win over St. Thomas Aquinas College - the 54th and 55th tallies of her career, surpassing the program record for career goals established by Kim Walker from 2003-06.

Ciaramella was named to the All-ECC Second Team. It marks the first all-conference selection of her career, and it comes after she's posted career-highs in goals (3), assists (8) and points (14). Ciaramella became the first Daemen player in recent memory to record assists in five straight contests, and her eight assists this season rank third in the ECC and 31st nationally. She scored Daemen's lone goal in a 1-1 tie against New York Tech, evening up the Sept. 21 contest  in the 87th minute.

D'Agostino was selected to the All-ECC Third Team for the second consecutive season. The Ontario native played a key role along Daemen's back line all season long, helping the Wildcats establish program records for shutouts (8) and fewest goals allowed (13). Only Mercy College (10) and Molloy College (10) allowed fewer goals among ECC teams during the regular season. D'Agostino has appeared in and started 47 of a possible 51 games over the last three seasons, helping Daemen pitch 16 shutouts in those contests.

Stranahan makes her debut on the All-ECC Third Team. The second-year player ranks second on the team in goals (6), assists (5) and points (17) while appearing in all 17 games. The statistical totals all eclipse her rookie production (1 goal, 2 assists, 4 points in 14 games during the 2018 season). With goals against Urbana University, Mansfield University and Le Moyne College in early September, Stranahan became the first Daemen player other than Boyar to score in three successive games since Meghan Lipinoga and Kacey Bougard did so back in 2013. She ranks ninth in goals, sixth in assists and seventh in points among the ECC leaders.

The quartet of All-ECC honorees have led Daemen to an 11-3-3 record this season, and a 4-2-2 mark in ECC play. The 11 wins mark the program's most since 2011. Despite missing a bid to the ECC Championships by a single point in the conference standings, the Wildcats remain in contention for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Daemen is No. 8 in the NCAA Division II East Region rankings released earlier this week. The full 56-team NCAA tournament field, including the eight participants from the East Region, will be revealed Monday, Nov. 18 in a selection show broadcast on NCAA.com.
