OFFICIAL ECC RELEASE AND FULL RESULTS

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team closed out its 2018-19 indoor season here today, competing at the East Coast Conference Championship held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Wildcats finished sixth in the team standings out of 11 teams, compiling 39 points. Georgian Court University accumulated 111 points to win the conference championship, edging out Roberts Wesleyan College (106) which was looking for its fifth-straight title.

The Wildcats came away with one individual champion, as junior Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.) claimed first place in the pole vault for the second-straight year with a jump of 3.20. She set the school-record at this event last year with a jump of 3.26. Daemen actually claimed the top two finishers in the pole vault, as senior Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y.) placed second to Haude with a jump of 3.05.

A school-record effort in the 60-meter dash and strong showings by distance runners Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) and Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) highlighted the track portion of the event for Daemen.

Warner placed third among 14 runners in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.45, while Golas finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:51.32. Freshman sprinter Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) faired well in a very competitive 60-meter dash. The rookie broke her own school record of 7.96 during the preliminary round with a time of 7.93, and went on to place seventh in the finals with a time of 7.98. Sophomore Brianna Randolph of Roberts Wesleyan won the event with a time of 7.73. Boswell also competed in the 200 meter dash and placed eighth with a time of 26.53.

Boswell and Warner were also part of the 4x400 relay team—along with Kress and freshman Amanda Bushway (East Aurora, N.Y.)—that placed eighth with a time of 4:19.37.

Additional highlights from the track events included seventh-place showings by Kress in the 500 meters (1:22.16) and senior Sam Carro (Canandaigua, N.Y.) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.79). Also, redshirt freshman Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ontario) finished 10th in the 3,000 meters (11:48.55) and sophomore Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.) placed 10th in the 1,000 meters (3:19.95).

In the field events, sophomore Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) tied her own school-record in the high jump and nearly did the same in the triple jump and the long jump. Her effort of 1.50 meters in the high jump tied the school-record she set earlier this year and earned her a fifth place showing tonight. She placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.56, narrowly missing her school-record of 10.57 set earlier this year. Finally, she placed 10th in the long jump (4.92), just missing her school-record of 4.93 she set earlier this year. Junior Hannah Miller (Seneca Fall, N.Y.) also tied a school record and placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.06 meters. The record was originally set by Toria Williams in 2015. Miller also competed in the shot put and placed fourth (10.35).

Daemen resumes its 2018-19 schedule when the outdoor portion of the schedule gets underway with the Geneseo Early Spring Invitational on Saturday, March 30.
