BROCKPORT THURSDAY NIGHT MEET - FULL RESULTS
BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team competed in the Brockport Thursday Night Meet held tonight at the Special Events and Recreation Center on the campus of The College of Brockport. The Wildcats placed second out of nine teams.
First-place finishes by the Daemen 4x400 relay team, as well as freshman sprinter Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore distance runner Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) highlighted the track portion of the event for Daemen.
Boswell took first place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.08. It marked the first career win in the 60-meter dash for Boswell, who set the school-record in the same event (7.96) in her first collegiate race and has posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 60-meter dash this year. Warner placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.58. It marks the second-straight meet that Warner has posted a first-place showing, as she won the 1,000-meter run at the Brockport Multi & Invitational on Jan. 26. Boswell and Warner were also part of the 4x400 relay team—along with freshman Amanda Bushway (East Aurora, N.Y.) and senior Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y.)—that placed first out of five schools with a time of 4:20.59.
Additional highlights from the track events included second-place showings by Kress in the 400 meters (1:04.38) and senior Sam Carro (Canandaigua, N.Y.) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.71). Also, redshirt freshman Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ontario) and sophomore Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.) competed in the mile run, with Nolet placing fifth (5:45.85) and Mucha finishing seventh (5:49.32). Freshman Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) also turned in a top-10 finish for the Wildcats, as she place seventh in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 12:15.62.
In the field events, sophomore Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) posted a top-10 effort in the high jump, triple jump and long jump. She placed third in the high jump (1.44 meters), fifth in the triple jump (10.48) and seventh in the long jump (4.90). She came close to her school-record in the long jump (4.93), which she set last month at the RIT Invitational. Sophomore Maddie Ewing (Mount Morris, N.Y.) also competed in the high jump and placed fifth (1.39), while Kress tied for sixth in the pole vault (3.10).
The Wildcats close out the indoor season on Feb. 16 when they travel to Staten Island, N.Y. to take part in the East Coast Conference Championships.
