Haude, Kress & Meyer Headline Daemen's All-ECC Honorees 4/29/2019 4:35:00 PM By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications AMHERST, N.Y. - Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.), Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y.) and Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) were each named to the All-East Coast Conference First Team, headlining the Wildcats' six all-conference accolades achieved by five total athletes. In addition, throwers Hannah Miller (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) and Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.) were named to the All-ECC Second Team. The selection of All-ECC athletes is based on individual finishes at the ECC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet which was held April 20 at Farmingdale State College. Individuals finishing first and second in their respective events earn first-team honors, while third and fourth place finishers earn second-team accolades. Haude, a 5-foot-7 junior, adds to her growing career achievement list by earning the sixth All-ECC honor of her career (combined indoor and outdoor). Haude cleared 3.05 meters to claim the ECC pole vault title for the fourth time in her career. She's placed first during the last two indoor and outdoor conference championship meets. Haude is just the fifth athlete in team history with multiple first-place finishes during the outdoor conference championship meet. Kress capped her outdoor track and field career by clearing 2.90 meters in the pole vault to place second. Ir marks the third straight year that Daemen posted multiple all-conference selections in the pole vault. Kress, who won the pole vault competition in both 2016 and 2017, was also a second-team All-ECC performer in the 400-meter hurdles. She placed third with a time of 1:07.92. It marks the first all-conference award for Kress on the track, and the eighth of her career overall (combined indoor and outdoor). Meyer, the defending triple jump champion, placed second this time around with a leap of 10.49 meters. The sophomore has now garnered All-ECC honors in three successive meets between the indoor and outdoor campaigns. In the throwing circle, Miller and Jones combined for a pair of accolades. Miller, a junior, earned second-team honors in the discus for the second straight outdoor season, thank to her 32.31-meter toss. Miller has posted top-four finishes in each of the last three conference championship meets between the indoor and outdoor seasons, and has totaled four all-conference selections in that time. Jones, a sophomore, earned the first all-conference nod of her career by placing fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.79 meters. For the latest information on Daemen Athletics, follow the Wildcats via social media on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, or sign up to receive customizable news alerts, e-mail newsletters and weekly schedule alerts.  Print Friendly Version
