Daemen To Discontinue Men's Golf Program 6/7/2019 2:07:00 PM | By: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Contact: Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for Communications & External Operations (716) 839-8385 Share: AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College will suspend its sponsorship of a varsity men's golf program effective immediately, director of athletics Traci Murphy announced today. Murphy cited the program's difficulty in fielding a full roster and the lack of conference sponsorship among the factors leading to the decision. The team's 2018-19 season was suspended this spring due to low roster numbers. "Although it wasn't an easy decision to make, it is in the best interest of Daemen Athletics to make this change now," said Murphy. "I want to thank our men's golf student-athletes and alums for their contributions to Daemen Athletics, and for their understanding of the difficult decision we've had to make." Daemen Athletics continues to thrive as the only NCAA Division II program in the Greater Buffalo Niagara Region as evidenced by the numerous successes achieved since gaining full NCAA membership in 2015.
