Women's Tennis Returns To Dual Match Play This Weekend 9/19/2019 2:30:00 PM Share: MATCH INFORMATION Match #3 Daemen Wildcats (0-2, 0-1 ECC) vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans (4-1, 1-1 ECC) Saturday, Sept. 21 | 11 a.m. Sparkill, N.Y. | Riley Family Tennis Courts Match #4 Daemen Wildcats vs. Seton Hill Griffins (0-0, 0-0 PSAC) Sunday, Sept. 22 | 1 p.m. Latrobe, Pa. | Latrobe HS Here's three things to know about these upcoming matches for the Daemen women's tennis team... 1. This weekend's action marks a return to dual match play for the Wildcats after sending two student-athletes - junior Christina Stasiuk and freshman Lena Gruber - to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Championship held last weekend at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Gruber earned her first career singles win at the tournament, downing Andrea Sandoval from Post University in the first round of the qualifying draw. She came up one match short of advancing to the main singles draw after falling to Alexxa Etienne of Southern New Hampshire University. 2. Daemen last competed in a dual match on Sept. 11 at Edinboro, but that match was postponed when a thunderstorm moved through the area. Daemen was leading 1-0 in the match after winning the doubles point, but the results will be wiped from the record and when the match is rescheduled it will start over at 0-0. A reschedule date is still to be determined. 3. Saturday's match against St. Thomas Aquinas is an East Coast Conference contest. The Wildcats and Spartans are two of four teams presently with one loss in conference play (also Roberts Wesleyan [0-1] and Molloy [0-1]). STAC was picked third in the ECC preseason poll. Sunday's match is a non-conference affair with Seton Hill, an affiliate of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. It'll mark the third meeting between the Wildcats and Griffins since 2016. Print Friendly Version Related Videos Now Playing: Play Video Related Stories 10.26.25 Wildcats Blanked by Queens in Fall Finale 10.24.25 Women's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season Sunday 10.21.25 Conover Named ECC Rookie of the Week 10.19.25 Women's Tennis Defeats Oswego State, 7-0
