The Daemen women are looking for their first win of the season, and are coming off a 6-1 setback at Seton Hill last Sunday. They'll be meeting the Division I Purple Eagles of Niagara for the fifth straight season. Niagara has emerged victorious in all four of the prior meetings, including a 6-1 final last April up on Monteagle Ridge. The Daemen women have never defeated a Division I opponent in the eight-year history of the program. 2. Freshman Lena Gruber accounted for the team's point in the loss to Seton Hill as she defeated Cameron Beer in two sets (7-5, 6-4) in their No. 1 singles match Sunday. Gruber has won two of her last four singles matches. Her first career singles win came over Post's Andrea Sandoval at the ITA East Region Championships on Sept. 13. She also teamed with junior Christina Stasiuk to win a No. 1 doubles match vs. Sofiia Shutko and Katarina Lopez of St. Thomas Aquinas last Saturday. 3. The Daemen men will be looking for another competitive match with the Purple Eagles. Niagara squeaked out a 4-3 win when the teams met last April, marking the closest decision in four all-time meetings. The Wildcats have experienced success against Division I opponents in the past, scoring a pair of victories over Coppin State - first during the 2015-16 season, and again last April. Print Friendly Version Related Videos Now Playing: Play Video Related Stories 10.19.25 Men's Tennis Closes Fall Season With Road Win 10.11.25 Men's Tennis Falls at Ithaca 10.01.25 Men's Tennis Falls At RIT 09.28.25 Men's Tennis Earns First Win Over Nazareth
