GAME NOTES
- Boyar's first goal of the game was the 40th of her career, becoming just the second player in team history to reach the milestone. She now stands 13 goals shy of the program record for career goals (54) set by Kim Walker from 2003-06, and 14 of her tallies have been game-winners.
- It also marked the 11th multi-goal game of Boyar's career; Daemen is 11-0 in those contests, and 19-5-1 when she scores at least once.
- Boyar also surpassed 90 points for her career. Now with 93 points points, she joins Walker and Samantha Engel as the only players in program history to reach 90.Â
- Stranahan and Mercado are the first Daemen players other than Boyar to score in consecutive games since teammate Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) did so in late September last season. Mercado is the first Daemen freshman with multiple goals in the same season since Celia de Pablo Estean (Burgos, Spain) and Sam Hanes (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) in 2017, and she's the first Daemen freshman with goals in back-to-back games since Boyar in 2016.
- Through two games this season, Daemen has outscored their opponents 11-0. It's just the second time in program history that the Wildcats have netted at least 10 goals in the first two games of a season (last done in 2011 when the scored 10). The team's 11-goal spread is also the greatest in program history through two games.
- It also marks just the third time in program history that the Wildcats have opened a season with back-to-back shutouts (previously 2013 and 2009).
- The five 2-0 starts in program history have all come under head coach Dan Dolan who took over in 2009. Today's win was the 90th of Dolan's career. Daemen has never started 3-0.
- The Wildcats snapped a six-game winless drought (0-4-2) in the all-time series with Mansfield. It was Daemen's first win over the Mounties since the teams' first-ever meeting on Sept. 24, 2002 (3-2 final score), and Daemen's first-ever win in four games at MU. Daemen hadn't scored more than a single goal in their last five meetings with the Mounties.
