FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. WEEKEND PLAN
Daemen will head east on the New York State Thruway Sunday for the program's first-ever match against Division I Colgate. It's the only match of the weekend for the Wildcats as their Saturday contest vs. D'Youville has been postponed.

2. LOOKING TO REBOUND
The Wildcats are looking to regroup following a pair of 6-1 losses in East Coast Conference play last weekend. Daemen hosted Queens and St. Thomas Aquinas - teams picked first and second respectively in the ECC preseason coaches' poll - and battled hard, but dropped the pair to move to 1-2 in the league this season. Freshman Kitsa Scime picked up the Wildcats' lone point vs. Queens, winning a three-set affair (6-4, 4-6, 1-0 [10-8]) against Mariana Ling. Against STAC, grad student Christina Stasiuk was repsonsible for Daemen's point as she outlasted Viktoriia Pavlovets 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) on the second singles court.

3. CLIMBING THE LADDER
In Daemen's loss to St. Thomas Aquinas, graduate student Christina Stasiuk picked up wins in doubles and singles play, increasing her career win total to 76. Only Hayle Scanlan (93) and Gretchen Ringler (84) have more combined singles and doubles wins in program history. matches in a Wildcat uniform. In addition, Stasiuk's doubles win came while paired with sophomore Frida Rubio. For Rubio, it marked her 23rd career victory, moving her into a tie for 10th on the program's all-time wins list.

4. BUMPING UP
Daemen will look for its first-ever victory against an NCAA Division I opponent Sunday. The Wildcats are 0-9 all-time against Division I teams. Colgate is the fifth Division I team that Daemen will have played against in the 10-year history of the program, joining the likes of Niagara, St. Bonaventure, St. Peter's and Southern Utah.

5. ON THE HORIZON
The Wildcats are set to visit District of Columbia (Oct. 22) and Bloomsburg (Oct. 23) next weekend, while a makeup date for the postponed D'Youville match also looms.

COLGATE RAIDERS SCOUTING REPORT
Colgate is a member of NCAA Division I and the Patriot League, and the Raiders are led by veteran head coach Bobby Pennington. Now in his 16th season at the helm, Pennington has led the Raiders 116 wins. The Raiders return seven players from their 2020-21 team that finished 4-5 overall and 2-3 in conference. Junior Rebecca Wolf headlines the returners. Colgate has competed exclusively in tournaments so far this fall, including the Siena Invite where Wolf advanced to the final round of the main singles draw. Freshman Addie Eklund has made an immediate impact and was the lone Raider to earn a singles victory at the ITA Regional Invite earlier this month.
