Columbia Firebirds (7-0, 3-0 ECC) Date: Friday, Oct. 22 Time: 11 a.m. Location: Washington, D.C. | UDC Tennis Courts Match #10 Daemen Wildcats vs. Bloomsburg Huskies (0-2, 0-0 PSAC) Date: Saturday, Oct. 23 Time: 2 p.m. Location: Bloomsburg, Pa. | Burt Reese Tennis Center PREVIEW Daemen will head out on a two-match road trip with contests against District of Columbia and Bloomsburg. The Wildcats are looking to snap a three-match slide and pick up their first win since downing Molloy 6-1 on October 3. Sophomore Frida Rubio leads the Wildcats with 10 combined singles and doubles wins this season. She recently moved into the top 10 in program history for career wins. Freshman Kitsa Scime is tied for second on the team with four singles wins this season, including a three-set defeat of Queens' Mariana Ling on Oct. 8. The Wildcats will be without grad student Christina Stasiuk this weekend. Friday's match comes against the ECC-leading Firebirds who have yet to taste defeat this season. The Firebirds have already scored impressive wins over defending ECC champion Queens (4-3) and last season's conference tournament finalist St. Thomas Aquinas (5-2), and their success comes after the team opted out entirely of the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19. Saturday's match is of the non-conference variety as the Wildcats take on Bloomsburg out of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Huskies play the majority of their season in the spring, and will enter Saturday's match with an 0-2 record this season. The Huskies have dropped matches to West Virginia Wesleyan (4-3) and District of Columbia (7-0) so far this season. Saturday's match is the first-ever between the Wildcats and Huskies.Print Friendly Version
