Keglers Fall To Nationally-Ranked Mount St. Mary's

LOCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team dropped all three matches against nationally-ranked Mount St. Mary's University during a dual meet between the schools held this afternoon at Allie Brandt Lanes. The visiting Mountaineers opened the day with a 1,023–860 win in a traditional match. The final two matches were scored using the Baker total pin fall format. Mount St. Mary's took match two (1,118–813), before completing the sweep with a 1,042—932 win in match three.

Daemen is now 6-14 this season. Mount St. Mary's, which is ranked No. 10 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, goes to 33-16.

Senior Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.) rolled a team-high 203 during the traditional match. Fellow senior Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) also turned in strong efforts for the Wildcats with scores of 189 and 171 respectively. Junior Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.) and senior Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) also competed during the traditional match. Aldridge bowled a 163, while Pencek posted a 134.

Daemen returns to action Thursday (March 18) when it hosts rival Roberts Wesleyan College in the rescheduled championship match of the 2021 East Coast Conference Tournament. The match will take place at Brad Angelo Lanes in Lockport, N.Y.

The ECC Tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the 16-team National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship, set to take place April 7-10 in Kansas City, Mo. Daemen is looking to make its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
