UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO TWILIGHT INVITATIONAL — FULL RESULTS
AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team took part in the University at Buffalo Twilight Invitational this afternoon and placed fourth out of five teams. The event was held at UB Stadium on the UB North campus. Daemen was the lone non-Division team in the field, which consisted of Buffalo, Niagara University, Siena College, Daemen and Canisius College.
It marked third time this season that the Wildcats have taken part in an event host by UB. Daemen took part in the UB Invitational this past Saturday and tied for seventh among 14 teams.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Redshirt junior Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) returned to the track after sitting out last weekend's event and turned in a solid effort in the 1,500 meter run. She placed eighth out of 21 runners with a personal best time of 4:59.15—eclipsing her pervious personal time of 5:10.75 which she set during the 2019 Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University. Nolet becomes the first Daemen runner to post a sub five-minute time in the 1,500 meters since Brittany Denton did so (4:50.00) during the 2018 East Coast Conference Outdoor Championships. Nolet also becomes just the fourth runner in program history for post a time under five minutes in the 1,500 meter run—joining Denton, Hannah Rice and Mackenzie Donahue.
- Nolet also took part in the 5,000 meter run today and placed first among Daemen runners and seventh out of 12 runners overall with a time of 18:59.75.
- Redshirt sophomore Hannah Thomas (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) competed in both the 800 meters and and 5,000 meters and posted a top-10 finish in the 800 meters. She placed first among four Daemen runners in the event and eighth out of 25 runners overall with a personal best time of 2:31.56. She would run the 5,000 meters for the first time in her Daemen career and placed 12th with a time of 21:25.30.
- Junior Amanda Bushway (East Aurora, N.Y.) also posted a personal best time in the 800 meters, as she placed second among Daemen runners and 16th overall with a time of 2:38.30.
- Freshman Alyssa Harrington (Tonawanda, N.Y.) took part in one track event and two field events today. She ran the 100 meters and placed sixth out of seven runners with a time of 14.55. She also placed 10th in the long jump (4.04 meters) and fourth in the triple jump (10.03 meters).
- Sophomore Natalie Menz (Lyndonville, N.Y.), senior Danielle Juby (Ilion, N.Y.) and redshirt junior Alexis Villarrubia (Rochester, N.Y) also saw action in both the track and field portions of today's event. Menz ran the 100 meter hurdles for just the second time in her career and posted a personal best time of 18.24. She also posted a personal best effort in the javelin with a throw of 23.06 meters and placed first among five Daemen entrants in the long jump with a leap of 4.25 meters. Juby was the top Daemen finisher in the 200 meters (29.84) and also placed 11th in the long jump (3.94 meters). Villarrubia competed in the 200 meter run (31.30) and the long jump (4.18 meters).
- Freshman Haley Hinds (Blossvale, N.Y.) took part in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the second straight event and posted a personal best time of 12:39.17—nearly 20 seconds better than she posted in her first-ever appearance in the steeplechase last weekend.
- Freshmen Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) ran the 5,000 meters for the first time and placed second among five Daemen runners in the event and ninth overall with a time of 19:35.65.
- Sophomore Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind) posted a personal best time in the 5,000 meters (19:46.45) and also ran the 1,500 meters for the first time in her career and posted a time of 5:10.98.
- Freshman Emma Grzebinski (West Seneca, N.Y.) ran the 1,500 meters for the first time and posted a time of 5:54.87.
- Senior Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.) took part in the shot put, hammer throw and discus. She placed fifth in the shot put (8.91 meters), third in the hammer (30.75 meters) and fifth in the discus (21.41 meters).
