BACK IN ACTION
Daemen travels to Worcester, Mass. for a non-conference game at Assumption Tuesday (Oct. 4). It will mark the first ever meeting between the Wildcats and the Greyhounds.

LAST TIME OUT

An unassisted goal by senior Tatyjana Scalisi (Williamsville, N.Y.) with just over 11 minutes left in the first half lifted Daemen to a 1-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas this past Saturday at Spartan Soccer Field on the STAC campus. Daemen out shot the Spartans 8-3 in the first half and the Wildcats eventually broke a scoreless tie in the 33rd minute. STAC senior goalkeeper Colleen Stevens attempted to clear the ball out of the STAC zone, but Scalisi intercepted the attempt and sent a shot over the head of Stevens and into the STAC net from 25 yards out. It marked the first goal of the year for Scalisi. Daemen registered two more shots over the final 10 minutes of the half, but the score remained 1-0 at the break. Daemen limited the STAC scoring opportunities in the second half and the hosts did not record a shot on goal until the 65th minute. The Wildcats finished with a 15-6 edge in total shots for the game, and Daemen also held a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) went the distance for Daemen and made two saves en route to her second shut out of the year.

RETURNING VETERANS
Daemen returns 20 players from its 2021 team, including six who collected All-ECC honors last year. Experience is abundant, as the team features two graduate students, seven seniors and five juniors. The team's top five scorers from last year all return to the pitch this fall. Senior Tatyjana Scalisi (Williamsville, N.Y.) and sophomore Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) accounted for 13 of the team's 34 goals last year and both earned first team All-ECC honors. Scalisi also earned all-region honors, while Diaz became the first player in program history to be named the ECC Rookie of the Year. All-conference defenders Julia Eich
el (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Baylin Tighe (Tonawanda, N.Y.) return after heading up a backline that surrendered just 20 goals in 16 games last year. Senior goalkeeper Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) is coming off an all-conference junior season in which she averaged five saves a game and posted a 1.27 goals against average. Graduate students Grace Stranahan and Katelyn Sidoti will serve as teams captains for 2022.

ROAD WARRIORS
Daemen enters the final week of a stretch of seven-straight road games. The Wildcats will travel nearly 2,500 miles by the end of the stretch, with the longest trip being Southern New Hampshire in Manchester N.H. (438 miles) and the shortest trip being Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa. (83 miles). After Assumption, the Wildcats close out the stretch at Molloy Saturday.

ON THE HORIZON
Daemen returns to East Coast Conference play Saturday (Oct. 8) with a match at regionally-ranked Molloy..

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Assumption is a member of the Northeast-10 Conference. The Greyhounds snapped a three-game winless streak following a 2-0 upset of regionally-ranked Southern Connecticut State this past Saturday. Assumption posted a 7-4-8 overall record (5-3-5 NE-10) last year and was picked seventh in the NE-10 preseason coaches' poll this year. Junior Kate Carleson totaled a goal and an assist in the win over SCSU and has totaled a team-high four goals and 10 points. Sophomore Julia Walsh has started all nine games in goal and owns a 1.78 goals against average. She made seven saves in a recent 3-1 win over Bentley and stopped two shots against SCSU en route to her second shutout of the year.
