LATROBE, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team capped off a solid weekend by claiming the tournament championship at the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament hosted by St. Vincent College at Lincoln Lanes today. It marks the third time that Daemen has claimed this tournament's championship in recent years, as the Wildcats also took home the title in 2018 and 2020. There was no tournament last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today's action featured five traditionally scored matches. Daemen opened with an 810-773 win over La Roche University. Daemen then suffered a 931-804 loss to tournament host St. Vincent. The Wildcats rebounded with back-to-back wins over Pitt-Greensburg (821-638) and Penn State Behrend (787-621)—earning Daemen a rematch with St. Vincent in the championship match.

St. Vincent entered the championship match sporting a 28-7 overall record and having won its four preliminary round matches by an average of 120 pins. Daemen got solid contributions from senior Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.), junior Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.) and junior Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) en route to a 910-808 victory. Aldridge rolled a 199, while Bergeron and Bartosz recorded scores of 195 and 190 respectively.

Graduate student Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) played in all five matches for Daemen and was named to the all-tournament team after ranking third among all bowlers with a total pin fall of 865. She rolled a team-high 182 during the win over Pitt-Greensburg and also posted a team-high 177 in the win over Penn State Behrend.

Bartosz and junior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) also both competed in all five matches today. Bartosz rolled a 171 against Penn State Behrend and posted a total pin fall of 839. Nowak posted a team best 176 in the win over La Roche and finished with a total pin fall of 822.

Aldridge appeared in four of the five matches and finished with a 666 total pin fall. Her 199 in the championship match was the highest score posted by a Daemen bowler today. Bergeron and sophomore Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) both saw action in three matches. Bergeron posted a team-high 175 in the loss to St. Vincent and finished with a 524 total pin fall. Gizicki posted a 165 in the win over Pitt-Greensburg and finished with a 416 total pin fall.

Today's championship capped off a solid weekend for the Wildcats in the Keystone State. Daemen posted a 3-1 record in a quartet of Baker format matches at Lincoln Lanes Saturday afternoon. Daemen has now won eight of its last 11 matches and stands at 27-24 on the year.

Daemen returns to action next weekend (Feb. 18-20) when the Wildcats take part in the Wildcat Division II Invitational hosted by Wilmington University.
