BROCKPORT SPRING INVITATIONAL — FULL RESULTS
BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's track and field team took part in the Brockport Spring Invitational today. The event took place on the SUNY Brockport campus.
Daemen sent just five athletes to the event and those athletes were expected to take part in the the 100 meter hurdles, shot put, discus throw, hammer throw and javelin throw. Inclement weather forced the cancelation of several events, including the 100 meter hurdles, shot put, hammer throw and javelin.
The discus throw did take place, and sophomore Paige Pavelski (East Aurora, N.Y.) was the top Daemen finisher. She placed 18th out of 34 entrants with a toss of 27.31 meters. Her performance ranks as the second best of her career, as she came just shy of her career-best throw of 27.73 that she established at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships last spring.
Freshman Elizabeth Bentley (Belmont, N.Y.) and graduate student Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.) also took part in the discus. Bentley came in just behind Pavelski and placed 19th with a toss of 27.07 meters. It marked the first career result in the discus for Bentley, who took part in the discus at the University at Buffalo Spring Invitational last weekend but did not score. Jones finished 29th (19.53 meters).
Senior Natalie Menz (Lyndonville, N.Y.) was scheduled to take part in the 100 meter hurdles and the javelin, while junior Skye Dorcely (Buffalo, N.Y.) was scheduled to take part in the shot put, hammer and javelin.
