ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's track and field team placed fifth out of 15 teams at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational today. The event consisted of NCAA Division I, II and III teams and took place on the University of Rochester campus.

SUNY Brockport posted 139 points to claim the team title, while SUNY Geneseo (134.5), Rochester (128), Ithaca College (65) and Daemen (53) rounded out the top five.

Top five efforts by sophomore Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) in the 1,500 meters and junior Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind.) in the 800 meters highlighted the track portion of the day for the Wildcats, while sophomore Alyssa Harrington (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and freshman Alyssa Amirato (Depew, N.Y.) both placed in the top five in the triple jump.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Bailey placed second out of 57 runners in the 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 4:55.15—eclipsing her previous best time of 5:01.38 that she posted last month at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.

  • Merrill, who posted a school record time (4:46.78) in the 1,500 meters last weekend, placed fourth out of 39 runners in the 800 meters today with a personal best time of 2:25.39. It marked just the second time she has run the 800 meters during her career.

Colca, who owns the third fastest 5,000 meter time in program history (17:38.12), was scheduled to run the 5,000 today but did not compete.
  • Senior Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) was the top Daemen finisher in the 400 meters and placed eighth out of 27 sprinters overall with a personal best time of 1:02.87.
