AMHERST, N.Y. – Riccardo Boscolo Bachetto (Chioggia, Italy) of Daemen University has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for games played August 22-28. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon. He becomes the first Daemen men's soccer player to be selected ECC Rookie of the Week since Philipp Schmidt in September of 2018.

The 6-foot-1 forward helped the Wildcats post a 3-1 victory over Saint Michael's College in their 2002 season opener this past Saturday. It marked the first time since 2014 that the Wildcats have opened the year with a victory. Boscolo Bachetto started and played 57 minutes in the game and totaled three shots and two shots on goal.

His first career goal turned out to be the game-winner, as his tally with just over 20 minutes to play in the second half and broke a 1-1 tie. He would score again just three minutes later to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead.

Daemen continues its season-opening stretch of four-straight home games with non-conference tilts against Great Midwest Athletic Conference members Malone and Walsh this week. The Wildcats host the Pioneers of Malone on Thursday (9/1) and the Cavaliers of Walsh on Saturday (9/3). Both games will take place at Karrer Field.
