Scime Collects ECC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

AMHERST, N.Y. – Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) of Daemen University has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for games played Sept. 5-11. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon. She becomes the first Daemen women's tennis player to be selected ECC Player of the Week since Christina Stasiuk in April of 2021.

Scime, a sophomore, posted two singles wins and a doubles win this past weekend and remained unbeaten in singles play on the year. She opened the week by recording Daemen's lone point in a 6-1 loss to Le Moyne on Saturday. Playing No. 2 singles, she rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win over Alicia Alvarez. She capped the weekend with a straight-set (6-1, 6-1) victory over Audrey Camacho of William Smith College at No. 2 singles. She also teamed up with freshman Carly Armitage (Rochester, N.Y.) to post an 8-1 win over Camacho and Julia Pide at No. 2 doubles. William Smith outlasted Daemen in the match to earn a 5-4 victory.

A product of Williamsville East High School, Scime has won all four of her singles matches so far this season. She posted two singles wins during the rain-shortened Allegheny Invitational back on Sept. 3 Scime is in her second season with the Daemen women's tennis team. She went 8-9 overall in singles play last year, primarily at the No. 3 singles spot.

Daemen (0-2) is idle until this weekend when it travels to Queens College (Sept. 16) and St. Thomas Aquinas College (Sept. 17) for East Coast Conference matches.
