A busy weekend coming up for Wildcat Nation, as the men's and women's basketball, men's volleyball, men's and women's track & field and men's tennis teams will all be in action.

The men's basketball team had its region-best seven game winning streak snapped at Molloy Friday night and bounced back with a win at Queens Sunday. The Wildcats are 10-2 over their last 12 games and were ranked eighth in last week's D2SIDA East Region pollDaemen features a balanced offense, with four starters averaging in double figures. Junior Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) has averaged 18.1 points over the last seven games is is averaging a team-high 12.6 points overall. Redshirt senior Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) ranks second on the team in scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg) and ranks second among the East Coast Conference leaders in blocks (48). He has recorded a block in 19 of 20 games this year and is just two blocks shy of becoming the fifth player in program history to register 50 or more rejections in a season. Senior guard Ryan Salzburg (Manlius, N.Y.) recorded his 200th career assist in the win over Queens this past weekend, while senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) played in his 100th collegiate game Friday night at Molloy. Junior Andrew Mason (Webster, N.Y.) ranks third among the ECC leaders in three-pointers made (53) and leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (.473). He is three shy of 150 three-pointers for his career. The Wildcats are idle until this weekend when they host Staten Island (Feb. 3) and District of Columbia (Feb. 5) in ECC games.

The men's tennis team kicks off the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule this weekend. The Wildcats will host Division III Rochester Institute of Technology Friday night at Miller Tennis Center and also square off against Division I Niagara University Saturday in a match to be played at Village Glen Tennis Courts.

The men's and women's track & field teams took part in the two-day YSU Mid Major Invitational this past weekend. Graduate student Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) placed first in the 1,000 meters on Friday night and finished third out of 75 runners in the mile on Saturday. She has now posted a top-three finish in four races this season. Sophomore Alyssa Amirato (Depew, N.Y.) posted a school-record leap of 5.02 meters during the long jump completion on Friday, eclipsing the previous program standard of 4.93 meters set by Katja Meyer at the RIT Invitational on January 12, 2019 and the Brockport Multi and Invitational on January 26, 2019. Graduate student Erik Matthews (Galway, N.Y.) made program history over the weekend by becoming the first-ever Daemen athlete to compete in a heptathlon. He finished second in the 60 meter dash and 1,000 meters and placed fifth out of 14 entrants overall. Daemen returns to action Saturday (Feb. 4) when it takes part in the Brockport Multi Invitational on the campus of SUNY Brockport.

The men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 non-conference win over Central State University this past Saturday at Lumsden Gymnasium in their final home game until Feb. 23. Daemen entered the match ranked sixth in the Off The Block Divisioon II Coaches' Poll, while Central State was receiving votes in the same poll. The Wildcats also played an exhibition game at St. John Fisher College on Sunday and posted a 3-2 win over the Cardinals. STJC entered the match ranked seventh in the AVCA NCAA Division III poll. All three of Daemen's victories this year have come at the friendly confines of Lumsden Gymnasium, extending its home-court winning streak to 12 consecutive matches. Junior Cameron Milligan (Pavilion, N.Y.) had 12 kills in the win over Central State and has totaled a team-high 33 kills on the year. Harvard (3-3) posted a 3-0 win over North Greenville and suffered a 3-2 loss to McKendree this past weekend. McKendree is ranked fourth and North Greenville is ranked seventh in last week's Off The Block Division II Coaches' Poll. Harvard went 12-13 last year and was ranked fifth in the preseason EIVA poll. AIC (1-7) is a Division II independent and picked up its first win of the year following a 3-0 win over Division III Emerson on Saturday. Daemen posted a 3-0 win over the Yellow Jackets back on Jan. 21 at Lumsden Gymnasium.

The women's basketball team has won five of its last seven games and posted wins at Molloy and Queens this past weekend. Daemen was ranked sixth in last week's D2SIDA East Region poll. The Wildcats lead the ECC and rank seventh among all Division II teams in team defense, allowing just 53.8 points per game. Newcomer Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) is shooting a Division II best 59-percent (40-68) from three-point land. She is averaging a team-high 11.9 points per game. Junior Alahna Paige (Rochester, N,Y.) is averaging 9.9 points and a team-high 2.9 assists per game and stands nine assists shy of 200 for her career. The Wildcats will play five of their final six regular season games at home, beginning with conference games against Staten Island (Feb. 3) and District of Columbia (Feb. 5) this weekend.
