WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's cross country team placed the top nine runners at the Daemen Alumni Invitational to win their second straight race with a team score of 15. Senior Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) paced the field of 19 runners with a first place time of 27:33.0.

FULL RESULTS

Senior Connor O'Brien (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished second overall at 27:40.0, just ahead of freshman CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) who placed third with a time of 27:49.8 in his first career 8K. Sophomore Aidan Kincaid (Orchard Park, N.Y.) placed fourth overall at 28:14.7. Freshman Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats with a fifth place time of 28:33.2 in his first career 8K.

Daemen won back-to-back races for the first time since 2011. The Wildcats (15) finished first ahead of Hilbert (53) and Bryant & Stratton (74). 

NOTABLE

• Kincaid posted a career-best fourth-place finish at the Daemen Alumni Invitational. 
• Senior Phil Ceccarelli (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished sixth with a time of 28:44.7. Fellow senior Steven Blatto (Lancaster, N.Y.) rounded out the top seven for the Wildcats with a seventh-place time of 29:03.8. 
• Sophomore Josh Trometer (Lancaster, N.Y.) posted a career-best eighth place finish at 29:08.9. Senior David Schwinger (Buffalo, N.Y.) was the final Wildcat to finish in the top-10, placing ninth overall with a time of 29:19.5.
• Freshman Matt Strasser (Alden, N.Y.) finished 11th with a time of 29:44.2 in his first career 8K. Senior John Balch (Saranac, N.Y.) finished 12th at 30:05.5.
• Freshmen John Stopera (Rome, N.Y.) and Brad Tobin (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished 14th and 15th at 31:02.8 and 31:14.5, respectively, in their first 8K races.
• Senior Laertes Cushing (Alfred, N.Y.) finished with a 16th-place time of 31:41.4, just ahead of graduate student Alexander Reynolds (Olean, N.Y.) who finished 17th overall with a time of 32:07.4.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats travel to Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday to race in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
