Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Daemen University men's tennis team dropped their third straight match of the fall season, losing to Millersville University 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference road match. The Wildcats fall to 2-4 on the year and will wrap up fall play on Friday at Bloomsburg.
The Wildcats took No. 1 doubles for just the second time this fall with a new pairing. Senior
Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) and sophomore
Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) took down Millersville's Lino Morin and Paul Bagnouls, 6-2, at first doubles to kick off the match. The Wildcats dropped second doubles as junior
Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M) and sophomore
Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) were upset, 6-3. Daemen's No. 3 doubles pairing of junior
Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) and senior
Jayven Williamson (Minneapolis, Minn.) picked up their fourth win of the fall with a big 6-4 victory over Millersville's Victor Suarez and Joel Oetliker to win the doubles point and put Daemen up, 1-0.
Millersville would sweep all six singles match ups, though. Three Wildcats took their pairings to three sets, with Alvarez falling in No. 1 singles, 3-6, 7-6 (4) for the first time this season, 10-5, Lumanog dropping second singles, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-7, and Mergens falling in No. 4 singles, 7-6 (8), 3-6, 10-7. Garcia was downed by Jasper de Koning (6-2, 6-2) in No. 3 singles, Chitanand fell to Sandor Wulf (6-2, 6-2) in No. 5 singles, and Williamson was beaten by Bagnouls (6-1, 6-0) in sixth singles.
