IT'S TIME FOR THE POSTSEASON
For the fifth consecutive year, the Daemen University women's tennis team qualified for the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship. The Wildcats, who were seeded fourth, will face top-seeded Queens College in the semifinal round.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY AGAINST QUEENS
The Wildcats and Knights have previously faced each other twice in the postseason. Queens defeated Daemen, 4-0, last year during the semifinal round of the 2023 ECC Women's Tennis Championship. The two sides first met in the postseason on April 30, 2021, with Queens also coming out on top, 4-0. The Knights have appeared in the last 13 ECC finals and were predicted to win the championship in the ECC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

OUR SUPERSTAR
Graduate student Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) was tabbed to the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference First Team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon. Rubio, who was named the 2020-21 ECC Rookie of the Year, ends her collegiate career with her first career appearance on the ECC All-Conference First Team after compiling a 7-4 singles record during the Fall while playing all her matches at the No. 1 court and leads the team in conference singles wins with three. Playing on No. 1 doubles all season, Rubio compiled a 6-6 record with five wins coming alongside partner Bella Bjerkan (Elmhurst, Ill.) and one with Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.). Rubio was also the only member of the Blue and White to appear in at least 10 matches and play on the same court for singles and doubles each time.

DOUBLE UP
After going undefeated the past week, freshman Stephanie Baier was tabbed the East Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Baier is the first player in program history to be named the ECC Rookie and Player of the Week simultaneously. Baier compiled a perfect 6-0 week with identical 3-0 records at singles and doubles. At doubles, the Daemen freshman defeated Kutztown and Millersville to begin the week before sweeping Paola Ermina and Yelizaveta Prokopenk of D'Youville with partner Carly Armitage, 6-0. In singles play, the Boise, Idaho, native started her week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gabby Gentile of Kutztown (Oct. 14) before following that with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sophie Lanius of Millersville the next day. She also helped the Blue and White clinch an ECC postseason berth by defeating Yelizaveta Prokopenk of D'Youville, 6-0, 6-0; her win against Yelizaveta Prokopenk marked the third time this season in which she won a match without dropping a set (9/28 at Fredonia, 10/11 at Molloy).

CLOSING IN ON HISTORY
Senior Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) currently sits six wins away from claiming the program record for singles wins with 50. Currently, the Williamsville, N.Y., native, has 47 career singles wins which is tied with Haylee Scanlan (2013-17)  for second all-time and leaves her three away from the program record. Christina Stasiuk (2017-22) holds the program record for career singles wins with 49. This season, Scime is 9-4 with a 7-4 mark on No. 2 singles and 2-0 record at No. 1 singles.
SCOUTING QUEENS (4-1, 3-1 ECC)
The Knights, who were named Co-ECC Regular Season Champions with St. Thomas Aquinas and the District of Columbia, ended their regular season with a 6-1 win over the Spartans. Queens also had four players earn all-conference honors with Caroline Hany-Fawzy tabbed to the first team and Saga Berggren, Kyra Bergmann and Maja Makal named to the second team.

SERIES HISTORY
Queens leads the all-time series against Damene, 13-0, and defeated the Wildcats earlier this year, 6-1.
