ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's cross country team finished 11th out of 18 teams at the 2024 NCAA Division II East Region Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails on the campus of host school Roberts Wesleyan University. The East Region of the NCAA Division II is comprised of teams affiliated with the East Coast Conference, the Northeast-10 Conference and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Southern Connecticut State, who has been ranked at the top of the East Region throughout the season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), placed all of their top five runners in the top-20 to finish with a regional championship for the second consecutive season with 54 team points. Host Roberts Wesleyan, who is coming off their 10th consecutive ECC Championship, placed the first and third place runners in the race and finished second with a team score of 65. Bentley earned the third automatic bid to the NCAA Division II National Championships with 126 team points.
Roberts Wesleyan runner Owen White paced the field of 140 to win the East Regional with a time of 31:15.5. Caldwell's Tilak Datta placed second overall and Southern New Hampshire's Dillon Labonte (4th) earned automatic bids to Nationals as the first two runners not on one of the top three teams to finish in the race.
Daemen finished with a team score of 269 to place 11th as a team in their final race of the 2024 season.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Aidan Kincaid (Orchard Park, N.Y.) led the Wildcats for the third consecutive meet, posting a career-best 35th-place finish with a PR time of 32:54.7 over the 10K race. Kincaid shaved 37 seconds off his previous 10K PR (33:31.6) set at the 2023 East Region Championships.
- Sophomore Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) placed 40th overall with a 10K PR time of 33:08.8, shaving over a minute and a half off his previous best 10K time (34:42.79) set at the 2023 East Region Championships.
- Graduate student Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) was the third Wildcat across the finish line, posting a time of 33:24.3 to place 50th overall.
- Running in the East Region Championships for the first time in his career, junior Josh Trometer (Lancaster, N.Y.) posted a PR time of 34:14.7 to finish 70th overall in his first career 10K.
- Graduate student David Schwinger (Buffalo, N.Y.) rounded out the Daemen scorers with a PR time of 35:14.2 for a 98th-place finish. Schwinger shaved over a minute and a half off his previous best (37:52.7) set at the 2021 East Region Championships.
- Sophomore Brad Tobin (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished 123rd overall with a time of 36:57.6 in his first career 10K race.
- Graduate student Laertes Cushing (Alfred, N.Y.) posted a time of 38:52.9 to place 132nd overall in his first 10K race.
