Geoff M Schneider School Records By Schultz and Oliver Lead Wildcats To Fourth Place Finish At Brockport Multi Invitational 2/3/2024 7:50:00 PM By: CONTACT: Tom McDermott, Director of Athletics Communications | tmcdermo@daemen.edu BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's track and field team finished fourth out of 14 teams at the Brockport Multi Invitational held today at the Special Events Recreation Center on the campus of SUNY Brockport. Daemen recorded 68 team points. SUNY Geneseo cruised to a first-place finish with 184.5 points. The remainder of the top five included the University of Rochester (85), SUNY Brockport (83), Daemen (68) and St. John Fisher University (61). For the second-straight week, school-record efforts by sophomore Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) in the 60-meter hurdles and freshman Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) in the weight throw highlighted the afternoon for the Wildcats. Daemen also got a first-place finish by junior Alyssa Amirato (Depew, N.Y.) in the triple jump and second-place showings by graduate student Hannah Thomas (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) in the 800 meters and senior Camryn Bailey (Geneva, N.Y.) in the 3,000 meters. HIGHLIGHTS Schultz took part in four individual events. She qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash after placing fourth out of 35 entrants in the qualifying round with a personal best time of 8.15 seconds. She would go on to place fifth in the finals and set another personal best time of 8.09 seconds. She then qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles after placing first out of 19 entrants in the preliminary round with a time of 9.63 seconds. She would then break her own school record and place second in the finals with a time of 9.35 seconds, eclipsing her record of 9.41 seconds she set last weekend at the RIT Invitational. Schultz also placed 15th out of 29 in the long jump with a leap of 4.76 meters and fifth out of 13 entrants in the triple jump (10.03 meters). Oliver placed second out of 48 entrants in the weight throw with a program-record toss of 15.31 meters, eclipsing the previous standard of 14.18 meters she set last weekend at the RIT Invitational. Oliver has improved her mark in the weight throw in each of Daemen's five meets this season, and today's toss of 15.31 meters is tops in the East region this year. She also took part in the shot put and placed first among Daemen throwers and 22nd out of 48 overall with a toss of 9.96 meters. Amirato took part in the long jump and the triple jump and was the top Daemen finisher in both events. She placed first out of 13 in the triple jump with a leap of 10.65 meters and 11th out of 29 in the long jump (4.88 meters). Thomas competed in the 800 meters and placed second out of 27 runners with a time of 2:25.07. Thomas has competed in seven races this season and has posted four first-place finished and three second-place efforts. Bailey competed in the mile and the 3,000 meters. She placed second out of 22 runners in the 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 10:44.69. She also placed first among three Daemen runners and ninth overall in the mile with a time of 5:28.34. Junior Emma Cain (Lockport, N.Y.) also ran the 3,000 meters and placed ninth (11:09.94). Graduate student Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind.) and senior Emma Grzebinski (West Seneca, N.Y.) both competed in the 1,000 meters and placed seventh (3:14.39) and eighth (3:14.37) respectively. Sophomore Alexis Rodriguez (Williamson, N.Y.) took part in the 60-meter hurdles and the 200 meters. She qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.22 seconds in the preliminary round and placed seventh in the finals with a personal best time of 10.17 seconds. She also posted a personal best time (27.95 seconds) and placed 17th out of 55 sprinters in the 200 meters. Sophomore Grace Gominiak (Darien Center, N.Y.) and freshman Abbie Herman (Hamburg, N.Y.) both posted personal best times in the 200 meters. Gominiak ran it in 28.94 seconds, while Herman posted a time of 30.96 seconds. Sophomores Christa Oates (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Alexis Nguyen (Grand Island, N.Y.) competed in the 600 meters and both posted personal best times. Oates placed ninth (1:50.82) and Nguyen placed 13th (1:53.37). Sophomore Patsy Oberholzer (Greece, N.Y.) and sophomore Hayley Pizur (Grand Island, N.Y.) both competed in the mile. Oberholzer placed 27th (5:46.38) and Pizur finished 35th with a personal best time (6:12.20). Daemen had five competitors in the shot put and six in the weight throw. Junior Elizabeth Bentley (Belmont, N.Y.) placed 23rd in the shot put with a personal best toss of 9.72 meters. Graduate student Tima Abdellatif (Grand Island, N.Y.) placed second among Daemen throwers and 10th overall in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 13.57 meters. Daemen's 4x400 relay team of Rodriguez, senior Neissa Raymond (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Gominiak and Thomas placed first out of seven teams with a time of 4:28.24. UP NEXT The Wildcats are idle until Feb. 18 when they take part in the East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
