Donovin Jones Women's Bowling Season Comes To An End At The ECC Championship 3/23/2024 2:19:00 PM By: CONTACT: Tom McDermott, Director of Athletics Communications | tmcdermo@daemen.edu ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's bowling team saw its hopes for a first-ever East Coast Conference championship come to an end this afternoon during day two action of the 2024 ECC Women's Bowling Championship. The three-day event is being hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University at AMF Dewey Garden Lanes. Daemen was one of nine teams in the tournament field and entered today in sixth place after posting a 4,414 pinfall total during the five opening round Baker format matches yesterday. Bryant University (4,741 pins) earned the No. 1 seed yesterday, while Molloy (4,625), Mercyhurst (4,622), Kutztown (4,538) and Roberts Wesleyan (4,534) rounded out the top five. The double elimination portion of the tournament began yesterday and continued today. All matches played today were Baker best-of-seven. Daemen opened today with a 4-0 loss to Mercyhurst. The Lakers turned in two strong games to open the match, posting a 256-124 win in game one and a 256-184 victory in game two. Daemen battled in game three, but suffered a 184-171 loss and Mercyhurst completed the sweep with a 192-162 win in game four. The loss dropped Daemen into an elimination match against Adelphi, which suffered a 4-0 loss to Molloy in its first match of the day. Adelphi took game one (226-179) and then opened a 2-0 lead after posting a 187-170 win in game two. The Wildcats answered with a 199-167 win in game three, but the Panthers took a 3-1 lead after a 211-171 win game four. Adelphi took the match and eliminated Daemen from the championship tournament following a 226-149 win in game five. Daemen closes out the year with a record of 44-36. The Wildcats reached the 40-win plateau for the fourth time in program history and were ranked 12th in the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Division II/III Poll.
