ON THE ROAD
The Daemen University men's soccer team heads on the road for the first time in the 2024 season as they head to Lock Haven, Pa., to play Lock Haven University. Kick-off from Hubert Jack Stadium is set for 3 p.m.

WIN NO. 1 OF 2024
Amidst rainy conditions throughout the contest, the Daemen University men's soccer team scored twice in the first half to defeat Walsh University, 2-1, for their first win of the year on Sept. 7. The Wildcats got on the board first in the fifth minute as graduate student Dennis Montero Guerrero (Weingarten, Germany) received a pass off of a Jean Tilo ( Port-au-Prince, Haiti) free kick and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the net to put Daemen on the board. In the 17th minute, Emmanuel Perez (Los Angeles, Calif.) provided the game winner as he intercepted a failed clear ball from the Cavs' defense and buried it into the back of the net. Even with an early goal from Walsh in the second half, the Daemen defense did not allow another goal while senior goalkeeper Arturo Bustamante (South Gate, Calif.) stopped all four shots he faced the remainder of the contest to secure the 2-1 win for the Wildcats.

HONOR ROLL
Bustamante and Perez were each named to the ECC Men's Soccer Honor Roll for the Week on Sept. 9 following their performances the past week. Bustamante went 1-1 on the week, earning his first win of the 2024 campaign in a 2-1 victory over Walsh on Saturday with a career-high 10 saves and a .909 save percentage. He had also made five saves against Malone (Sept. 5) earlier in the week. For Perez, he scored the game-winning goal for Daemen in a 2-1 win over Walsh on on Sept. 7.

KEY RETURNERS
Entering the 2024 campaign, four of the Wildcats top five scorers from last season are back on the pitch. Senior midfielder Ryan Baitiche (Thionville, France) and Dennis Montero Gurerro (Weingarten, Germany), who both finished last year tied for the second-most goals on the team with three, return to the Wildcats lineup. On the defensive half of the ball, Bahamas National Team selection Jean Tilo (Port-au-Prince, Haiti),  Sujan Rajamohan (Spencerport, N.Y.) and Juan Tejeda-Moreno (Chico, Calif.) all return to Daemen.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN:
The Bald Eagles are 0-1-1 on the young season, drawing 1-1 against Chestnut Hill on Sept. 5 and falling to Bloomsburg, 1-0, on Sept. 7. Matt Laudenslager has scored the only goal for Lock Haven this season while in net, Brady Freiwald has started both games for the Bald Eagles, making five saves across 180 minutes of action. Prior to the season, Lock Haven was picked third in the PSAC West Division and received one first-place vote to win the division as well.
