Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's tennis team dominated from start to finish in a road match on Tuesday evening, picking up their second win of the season as they beat Nazareth University 6-1 in a non-league tilt. The Wildcats move to 2-1 on the year and get off to their best start to the season since 2017-18.

Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) picked up their first doubles win of the season, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Nazareth's Max Funicello and Griffon Bond. Daemen's second doubles duo of sophomores
Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) and
Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) earned their second win as they topped the Purple Eagles' No. 2 doubles of Chris Benedict and Noah Britton, 6-3. Junior
Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) and senior
Jayven Williamson (Minneapolis, Minn.) earned a dominant 6-1 victory over Pierre Ntonga and James Hawkins for the Daemen No. 3 duo's second doubles win of the season.
The Wildcats kept the wins coming in singles play. Alvarez earned his first No. 1 singles victory of the year with a 6-,1 6-2 win over Bond. Garcia battled in No. 2 singles and outlasted Funicello, 7-5, 6-4 for his second win of the season while Williamson earned his third straight singles win, topping Ntonga 6-1, 6-0 in third singles play. Mergens topped Britton, 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles for the sophomore's second victory in singles play. Chitanand didn't drop a single game in his perfect 6-0, 6-0 win over Nazareth's Enoch Li at No. 5 singles. Nazareth picked up their sole point of the match as James Hawkins topped Daemen's
Vondin Henderson (Tonawanda, N.Y.) 6-2, 6-2 at sixth singles in Henderson's Daemen debut.
