Women's Tennis Ends September with 5-2 Victory Over Fredonia

Box Score FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's tennis team closed out the month of September with a 5-2 win over SUNY Fredonia in intercollegiate women's tennis action Saturday morning at the Steele Hall Courts.
 
With the win, the Wildcats improved their record to 5-2 while the Blue Devils moved to 4-5 on the year.
 
Daemen took the doubles point and won across all three courts as well. The combination of seniors Yinett Del Leon (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Arianna Lysiak (Depew, N.Y.) emphasized the Wildcats success early on with a 6-0 sweep over Gabriella Farr and Claire LeFevre at No. 2 doubles.
 
At singles, senior Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) earned her sixth singles win of the season and 44th of her career with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Bernadette Gens. With the win, Scime takes sole possession of third place all-time for career singles wins and now sits six away from establishing the new program record. Playing No. 2 singles for the first time in her Daemen career, freshman Stephanie Baier (Boise, Idaho) collected a 6-0, 6-0, sweep over Lucy Prevet. Fellow freshman Zoe Gietmann (Hamburg Germany) made her first appearance for the Blue and White since Sept. 10 at Nazareth University and earned her second collegiate win with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Farr at No. 3 singles. LeFevre earned a win for Fredonia at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-0, victory over junior Dania Mehani (Amherst, N.Y.) Senior Emily Jablonski (Alden, N.Y.) made her season debut at No. 5 singles and earned her first singles win of the 2024-25 campaign with a 6-3, 6-3, triumph against Sophia Olson. Finally, at No. 6 singles, freshman Lily Goodemote (Saquoit, N.Y.) dropped a closely contested, 6-2, 4-6 (10-3) decision to the Blue Devils Sierra Allen.
